REMINDER: 2020-2021 Veteran of Foreign Wars (VFW) Audio Essay Contest (9-12) -- VFW Post 1581 -- SUSPENSE: October 31, 2020

- 9/11/2020

It’s only fitting, on this special and solemn day in our country’s history, I send this notice of the upcoming deadline for submission to the VFW’s annual competition. How befitting that on this Patriots Day this reminder comes of a program that reminds our youth about the significance of Patriotism. It’s even more special this year because a talented young lady from Marian High School, vetted through our Post, won the 2019-2020 competition (https://www.vfw.org/ community/youth-and-education/ youth-scholarships).

The VFW’s annual Voice of Democracy Audio Essay Competition brings together "nearly 57,000 high school students who compete for more than $2 million in scholarships and incentives. Students compete by writing and recording an audio essay on an annual patriotic theme. This year’s theme is, Is this the Country the Founders Envisioned?”.

The deadline for this year’s submissions is October 31st, 2020.

Thank you in advance for your assistance in sharing this opportunity with your students and for all you’re doing for students and staff during this unprecedented time. I know it’s not easy and greatlyt appreciate your efforts.

Please let your staff know they can reach out to me with any questions.

Respectfully,

Rob Herman
