Sign up to be a VFW Post 1581 member. We understand the unique bond you share with other veterans of overseas conflicts because we, too, have been there. Since 1899, the VFW has been the nation’s leading veterans service organization. Stand strong with the nearly 1.7 million members of the VFW and its Auxiliary as together, we continue to fight for all that’s good FOR VETERANS.
Coming home doesn't mean the battle is over. With over 10 times the amount of veterans lost to suicide than to combat operations in the same time period, there has never been a more important time to TAKE A STAND and DO something to support our veterans!! No matter what you're facing, VFW Nebraska is here to support you and your family before, during and after deployment with a wide range of FREE programs and services. If you or someone you know is suffering from PTSD, we have people that have shared a similar experience and are ready to help.

Out of every one hundred men, ten shouldn't even be there, eighty are just targets, nine are the real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the one, one is a warrior, and he will bring the others back.
The soldier is the Army. No army is better than its soldiers. The Soldier is also a citizen. In fact, the highest obligation and privilege of citizenship is that of bearing arms for one’s country
Patriotism consists not in waving the flag, but in striving that our country shall be righteous as well as strong.
